
Katheryn Schliskey is the 2020-2021 Central Region Venturing Area 4 President. Katheryn is from Lake Erie Council and Has served as the Area 4 VOA Vice President of Program. She is a member of Crew 2223 in Saybrook, Ohio. She has received an Area VLA, has served on summer camp staff at Beaumont Scout Reservation for the past three years, is an ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow, and is working towards her Summit Award. She will be a senior in high school this year and will continue to attend Kent State University through the CCP program. Katheryn is excited to Lead the Adventure with her new Area VOA team and intends to help build and maintain strong Council VOAs in Area 4.

Colin Clark is the Central Region Area 4 Venturing Vice President of Administration.Colin is from Crew 2335 and Troop 152 in Great Trail Council. He has been on high adventures to Philmont and Sea Base. He has served on Great Trail Council’s NYLT staff for 4 years, in a variety of leadership positions. He is an Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow. Colin spends his time during the summer serving on Seven Ranges Ecology staff. Colin is going to be a senior in high school and is hoping for an exciting year to come.

Serena Naizer is the Central Region Area 4 Venturing Vice President of Program. Serena is from Crew 2335 in Great Trail Council. She has been on two Philmont treks and was the Crew leader of the most recent trek. She has also participated in the Out Island Adventure at Sea Base. She has served on Great Trail Council’s NYLT staff for 3 years. Serena is an upcoming freshman in college. Outside of scouts Serena is an active member of the theater community and is a part the Akron Big Band as a vocal performer.

Jordan Hires is the Central Region Area 4 Venturing Vice President of Communication. Jordan is from Crew 2148 in Simon Kenton Council. She has been in Venturing for the past two years and was a girl scout for six years. She is currently the Vice President of Communication of her Crew as well as her Council VOA. Last year she Completed NYLT and CIT-A at Chief Logan and was on staff for NYLT True North. She is going to be a Junior at Hilliard Bradley and will be both a Sousaphone in the marching and the Varsity Goalie for her school’s lacrosse team.

Steve Garner is the Central Region Area 4 Venturing Advisor. He was previously the Area 4 Associate Advisor for Training. Steve has been directly involved in Venturing since 2014, but his Scouting in northeast Ohio stretches back over twenty years in the legacy Greater Cleveland Council (GCC), and had been involved in Scouting periodically since his childhood as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout in the Miami Valley Council (Dayton, OH). Steve holds a Bachelor and Master of Commissioner Science. He has been a faculty member for six Commissioner College events. He served as a faculty member for six GCC Baden-Powell Institute training events. Steve is Wood Badge trained and served on Wood Badge staff. He served as Assistant Scoutmaster for five GCC NYLT courses and in 2018 was the NYLT Course Director for first official Lake Erie Council NYLT course event (two Troops simultaneously). Steve has served as a member of the Lake Erie Council Field Service Reorganization Task Force since June 2017. He has focused early on the proposed structure of the LEC Venturing Division, as well as the structures of the LEC Cub Scouting Division and the LEC Scouts BSA Division. He holds the Cubmaster Award, the Cub Scouter Award, the Scouter’s Key Award, the Scout Leader’s Training Award, the Silver Beaver Award, and the Venturing Leadership Award (Area).

Elena Mazur is the Central Region Area 4 Associate Advisor for Administration. She was previously Area 4’s Vice President of Program for the 2016-2017 term. She previously served on Greater Cleveland’s Council VOA as Vice President of Program for the 2013-2014 term. She has also devoted 5 years of her time to serve on staff for her council’s NYLT course. Along with NYLT she also attended NAYLE in 2017 at Philmont Scout Ranch to learn and further her leadership abilities. This summer she will be devoting her time to being Assistant Health Director for Beaumont Scout Reservation in Ashtabula, OH.

Matt Blackwood is the Central Region Area 4 Associate Advisor for Program. He has been involved in Venturing for just over 3 years, but his experience in Scouting goes back nearly 35 years. He is an Eagle Scout and the Advisor to Crew 64 in Charleston, WV. For the last eight years he has been the Webelos Den Leader (Pack 64) and for the last 4 years he has been the Scoutmaster of Troop 64. He is a Venturing trainer and has advised Buckskin Council on Venturing training and programming events. He previously served as the VOA Advisor for the Elk River District VOA (Buckskin Council). At present, he is the VOA Advisor for Buckskin Council. He has been awarded the Scoutmaster’s Award of Merit, the District Award of Merit, the Silver Beaver and the Council Venturing Leadership Award. He is Wood Badge trained and has served as Senior Patrol Leader for Wood Badge. He worked on staff of NLYT and for 18 years was on staff at Brownsea 22 Leadership Camp. In addition, he served as one of the the leaders for the Buckskin Council contingent attending the inaugural National Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve.
